Damn Google Slap

Have you ever been Google Slapped? I have, twice. Those of you who feel my pain knows that once slapped, your campaign is pretty much dead in the water.

Since some time in 2006, Google implemented the Quality Score algorithm which basically analyzes your ad copy, keywords and landing page for relevance. If Google thinks that you are adversing for junk and not really selling to a specific audience, you will get slapped. You will know if you got Google Slapped if you wake up in the morning to check you campaigns and realize that now your minimum bid is $5 or $10 per click. Like I said, your dead in the water.

What really sucked was that when I got slapped. I had know idea of why or what was wrong. I thought that my ad, keywords and landing page was good enough and specific to what I was trying to promote. Google did not explain to you at all of what they did not like about your advertisement.

When it comes to pay per click, you want to get the most amount of traffic possible for the least amount of money. I personally don’t want to pay more than .20 per click. The Google Slap most definitely caused me to shut down that campaign.

The solution to the Google Slap is now here. Thanks to the guys over at Hexatrack. They have created a tool that will allow you to test your campaign before submitting it to adwords. You know ahead of time what your quality score is and what possible changes need to happen to increase your score.

This tool is called Google Goggles which is what this site is all about. Take a look at the main page or go here: http://AboutGoogleGoggles.com
